About Burt Jones

Georgia’s 13th Lieutenant Governor, Burt Jones is a lifelong entrepreneur, former State Senator, and proud sixth-generation Georgian committed to growth, service, and leadership.

Meet Burt Jones

Burt Jones is a lifelong conservative, business leader, and public servant with a proven record of job creation, economic development, and defending Georgia values. A sixth-generation native of Jackson, GA, Burt plays a key leadership role in his family’s business, Jones Petroleum, where he has served as an integral part of growing the diverse, multi-faceted company, employing nearly 2,000 Georgians. Burt also founded JP Capital & Insurance, Inc., a risk-management company specializing in retail insurance brokerage. As an entrepreneur who has built businesses from the ground up, Burt understands firsthand the responsibility of signing both the front and back of a paycheck.
Driven by a commitment to service, Burt represented Georgia’s 25th District in the State Senate for over a decade. Over his time in the State Senate, he championed economic development initiatives that attracted new industries and created thousands of jobs in Middle Georgia. He emerged as a leading voice on election integrity, helping to restore public trust in elections after the 2020 election cycle. Burt played a central role in the passage of Georgia’s Election Integrity Act (S.B. 202)—work that earned him national recognition, including praise from President Donald J. Trump, who also appointed Burt to the Foreign and Domestic Trade Council.

In 2022, Burt was elected as Georgia’s 13th Lieutenant Governor. In office, Burt has prioritized putting more money back in the pockets of working families through tax reform, improving our K-12 and higher education system by empowering parents with school choice legislation that allows them to choose what is right for their children, and supporting law enforcement with the tools and legislation needed to combat the fentanyl crisis and keep Georgia communities safe.

Proud Georgian

Before entering business and public service, Burt was a student-athlete and a four-year letterman for the University of Georgia football team. As a former walk-on, Burt Jones was elected permanent team captain for the 2002 season, helping to steer the team to its first SEC Championship in 20 years. In 2014, UGA named Burt a Distinguished Alumnus and named him to its “40 Under 40” list.

Burt and his wife, Jan, live in Butts County with their two children, Stella and Banks. They are active members of Rock Springs Church in Milner.
