What Burt Jones prioritizes

Georgia's 13th Lieutenant Governor, Burt Jones, has demonstrated he is a fighter who has made Georgia's families and businesses the top priority of his tenure in office. Since January 2023, Burt Jones has led Senate initiatives fighting for:

Lowering Income Taxes

Burt Jones has delivered on his commitment to reduce the tax burden for Georgia families and businesses. In his role as Lt. Governor, he has consistently supported legislation to lower the state income tax and helped return billions to Georgia’s economy. In the past year alone, he championed efforts to issue surplus refunds, lower the income tax rate, and provide new relief for families with children—all while ensuring the state budget remains balanced.

Combating Georgia’s Fentanyl Crisis

The fentanyl epidemic has surged under weak federal border policies and declining law enforcement under President Biden. In Georgia, overdose deaths have spiked dramatically. Burt has stepped up to confront the crisis. In 2024, he supported Austin’s Law, giving prosecutors a critical tool to fight fentanyl-related deaths. He built on that work in 2025 by increasing mandatory sentences for traffickers and closing loopholes to make sure the law is enforced.

Expanding School Choice

Burt is a strong advocate for every parent’s right to choose the best educational path for their child. As Lt. Governor, he helped pass SB 233—the Georgia Promise Scholarship—which marked the most significant school choice win in state history. He also pushed for expanded access for foster and military families. Burt believes school choice gives parents more control and ensures every child has access to a quality education, no matter their ZIP code.

Protecting Public Safety

Burt has made it a priority to support law enforcement and uphold the rule of law. He led the charge on tough-on-crime measures, including mandatory minimums for gang crimes, stronger protections for schools, and new laws to rein in sanctuary cities and district attorneys who refuse to prosecute offenders.

Strengthening Georgia’s Workforce

Burt is committed to building the strongest workforce in the nation. He has cut red tape around licensing, increased funding for Georgia’s technical colleges, and promoted careers that don’t require four-year degrees. He has also supported initiatives to expand job opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Supporting Rural Georgia

Rural Georgia has a tireless advocate in Burt Jones. He has prioritized healthcare access, farmland preservation, and emergency response in rural areas—including leading recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene. Every day, as Lt. Governor, Burt has fought to ensure rural communities aren’t left behind.
